Is Tarzana Treatment Centers accredited?
Yes. Tarzana Treatment Centers is fully licensed in California and accredited by
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
What is the first step to getting addiction treatment?

How can I pay for treatment?
Tarzana Treatment Centers accepts most health insurance plans (including Medi-cal
and Healthy Families), credit cards and other forms of payment. In specific cases,
government benefits can contribute to the cost of treatment.
What is the best form of treatment for me or for the member of my family?
Tarzana Treatment Centers offers a range of treatment services from outpatient counseling
to inpatient detoxification. To determine what is appropriate for you or your family
member a comprehensive assessment is necessary. Assessments are available at no
cost.
What do your addiction treatment programs consist of?
Tarzana offers a variety of services including outpatient counseling, residential
rehabilitation, inpatient or outpatient detoxification, individual and group counseling,
mental health and many other services. Our range of services is delivered by a
team of experienced nurses, psychiatrists, art and recreational therapists, psychologists,
physicians, certified counselors, and social workers.
What is an average day of treatment like?
Of course, treatment programs will vary for each individual. However, TTC's treatment
philosophy, which guides our treatment programs, is in accordance with the National
Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
"13 principles of addiction treatment". This set of principles
reinforces the importance of each of these elements:
- Professional comprehensive assessment
- Patient Involvement in treatment planning
- An appropriate schedule of private individual counseling, usually combined with
group counseling and education
- Orientation to and involvement in 12-step programs, including the involvement of
a sponsor and frequent meeting participation
- A balanced approach to related life challenges, such as employment, money management,
physical exercise, opportunities for self-expression and integrity in personal relationships
- A long-range plan for continuous aftercare, alumni and/or 12-step involvement
Do you have an alumni program?
TTC's Alumni Association is a fellowship available to anyone who has received treatment from Tarzana Treatment
Centers. The Alumni Association meets weekly at each of the three sites to plan
social, recreational and fund raising activities for themselves and current clients.
The Alumni Association is supported by a staff liaison who advises the alumni's
governing body, assists in the coordination of events and maintains communication
between the association and the administration of Tarzana Treatment Center.
Do you treat depression, anxiety or other mental health disorders?
Many individuals with chemical dependency also experience complicating problems
such as depression, anxiety or other disorders. From the assessment process and
throughout treatment, TTC's professionals are able to identify and provide treatment
for these challenges. In many cases, mental health counseling and pharmaceutical
approaches may be considered.
Is counseling available for family members of those seeking addiction treatment?
Yes. Tarzana Treatment Centers offers special counseling sessions geared toward
family members, which focus on understanding addiction and various ways to support

Do you provide treatment for youth?
Yes. TTC provides a full range of treatment for youth (14-23), which includes
Substance abuse prevention and counseling, mental health treatment, on-site schooling,
arts and recreational programs, process groups, psycho-educational groups (Drug
Education, Anger Management, Depression Management, Relapse Prevention), family
support groups, family therapy, individual counseling, 12 step meetings, and step
study. Our youth programs build on each youth's talents and strengths, while involving
them in a collaborative treatment process. TTC is one of the few organizations to
offer residential substance abuse treatment for minors (13-17), available at three

For which issues do you accept youth into your programs?
We accept youth who:
- Are not a danger to themselves or others
- Have substance abuse or dependency disorders
- Have mental health issues
Can you describe the staff that treat the youth in your programs?
TTC's youth programs consist of a diverse multi-disciplinary treatment team
that includes Psychiatrists, Licensed Clinical Psychologists and Social Workers,
Marriage and Family Therapists, and Certified CD Counselors.
Do you accept all youth into your programs?
Because of our first commitment to the safety of our patients, we cannot accept
youth who:
- Have a history of, or propensity for, starting fires
- Have a history of, or propensity for, being a sexual perpetrator
- Are actively suicidal
- Act out violently against others
What if I have HIV or other medical problems?
We recognize that substance users may be at considerably higher risk for, or
are living with HIV, hepatitis, liver damage or other health challenges. We approach
these issues in treatment from medical and counseling perspectives. Our fully integrated
health services, including a full range of HIV services, are available with substance
abuse treatment—or as a separate service. For more information on our
